Missy Cook Brookoover
Executive Director, Co-Founder of Cooper Trooper Foundation
Missy co-founded Cooper Trooper Foundation with her late husband, Rod Cook, after their 3rd son (Cooper) was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Infantile Fibrosarcoma. Thankfully, Cooper is a healthy teenager now, but Missy and Rod saw the impact it had on their other two sons, which prompted the idea behind the mission of offering more support for
the siblings of children with cancer.
Missy was born in Little Rock, AR, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Arkansas State University, before receiving two Master’s degrees from The University of Alabama in Marriage and Family Counseling and School Psychometry. She self-published the book, Courage From Koko’s Pouch to accompany the plush koala that is included in the Courage Kit for younger kids.
After the loss of her husband, Rod, in 2013, Missy was remarried almost 8 years later, to Andy Brookover in 2021. She lives in Franklin, Tennessee with Andy, her 3 sons (Carson and Colby are in college and Cooper in High School), and a Cockapoo named “Bama.” When not doing all things “Cooper Trooper” she enjoys spending time with family and her girlfriends, writing, watching college football, hiking, and catching an incredible sunset at the beach.
